ANGA COM, ISBE and Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers become "International Partners" 22. März 2016

22 March 2016 (Cologne, Germany, and Exton, PA, USA) — ANGA COM – Exhibition and Congress for Broadband, Cable & Satellite, the International Society of Broadband Experts (ISBE), and ISBE’s parent organization, the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE), today announced that they have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that is intended to drive worldwide thought leadership and technological advancement in the cable telecommunications and broadband industries.

The MOU designates the ANGA COM Exhibition and Congress and SCTE/ISBE Cable-Tec Expo® as “International Partners” and establishes a foundation for the organizations to work more closely to build global visibility for technical sessions and training activities that are conducted in conjunction with the respective events.

Among other key provisions of the agreement are commitments to:

  • Organize at both events co-branded technical sessions that can address existing and new opportunities for innovation, as well as assistance in securing relevant speakers;
  • Spearhead the growth of International Breakfasts that serve as forums for knowledge sharing, business development and networking at both events; and
  • Promote both ANGA COM and SCTE/ISBE Cable-Tec Expo® as sources of industry education and technical leadership for cable and broadband operators.

“ANGA COM and SCTE/ISBE are cornerstones for much of the thought leadership and workforce education that underpin our industry’s success,” said Bill Warga, Vice President, Technology for Liberty Global and Vice Chairman of the SCTE/ISBE Board of Directors.  “By working together to plan and execute key international elements of ANGA COM and SCTE/ISBE Cable-Tec Expo®, they can increase alignment between the objectives of both events and the needs of cable and broadband telecommunications.”

“Cable operators throughout the world are seeking optimal solutions in key areas such as energy management and DOCSIS® 3.1 training,” said Mark Dzuban, President and CEO of SCTE/ISBE.  “ANGA COM and SCTE/ISBE are uniquely positioned to expand the availability of technical information to the international cable community.”

“The globalization of the broadband industry has created a growing need for an exchange of technical skills across borders. SCTE/ISBE with its high expertise is the perfect transatlantic partner for us. We highly appreciate the exchange of know-how, topics and speakers, as this will surely make our events more international than ever,” said Dr. Peter Charissé, Managing Director of ANGA COM. “

Interview invitation to modem vendors regarding the generic core interface specification for CPE devices 17.03.2016 17. März 2016

Germany recently passed a new legislation on the Selection and Connection of Tel-ecommunications Terminal Equipment. The new rules define that the public tele-communications network terminates at a passive network termination point (pNTP). As a consequence MSOs are requested to specify the requirements for CPE devices that can be connected to the pNTP.

ANGA provides a forum for MSOs to jointly develop a generic core interface specifi-cation leveraging the existing DOCSIS standard. The goal is to finalize this part of each MSO’s interface description and the respective MSO specifications by August 1st, 2016. It is very important for the success of the entire project that contributions by vendors are accounted for. Therefore, we would like to invite you to an interview with the ANGA team that is in charge of the drafting process for the relevant docu-mentation.

The ANGA team includes several experts from German MSOs. Our intention is that you and your team (max. 3 experts) present your view on max. 12 slides on the mat-ters at hand. Afterwards, we will have an additional Q&A session. The complete in-terview (slides and Q&A session) will take about 45 min and you have an exclusive time slot for the presentation. We will provide the same offer and time frame to other potential modem vendors on the base “one company one slot”.

It is important, that your presentation and your solutions are strongly focused on the requirements of the interface description for the pNTP. This will give the ANGA team the chance to consider the proposed solutions.

Special interest is on the following topics:

  • DOCSIS 3.0 PHY
  • DOCSIS 3.0 SEC
  • Software Update services
  • Firmware Update services
  • Packet Cable 1.5
  • Packet Cable 2.0
  • Provisioning and authentication process

All proposals shall be related to DOCSIS 3.0 and accompanying standards with the exclusion of earlier versions of DOCSIS.

We scheduled the interviews as follows:

Date: 13 April 2016
Venue: Unitymedia premises in Kerpen, Unitymedia NRW GmbH, Michael-Schumacher-Straße 1, D-50170 Kerpen, Germany
Starting time: 10.30 am
End Time: approximately 5.00 pm

We will serve soft drinks, coffee and a lunch in the lobby.

Please send us confirmation that you would like to attend until April 1st, 2016. We are not able to accept late requests. Also, please let us know which time slot you pre-fer (before or after lunch). Otherwise we will allocate time slots in the order of the confirmations received. We will send you the agreed time table by April 4th, 2016.
